Jamie Campos,

Pre-Licensed Counselor

Hey what up! My name is jamie (they/them/theirs), and I am thrilled you’re interested in exploring the therapeutic journey!I work with those who are interested in building or improving their relationships, developing their identity, and exploring the meaning of their experiences.

My clients are existentially concerned, climate-anxious, and struggling to feel connected in their relationships and community. My clients are mad at a lot of shit in the world and are feeling uncertain about what to do with that hurt and anger.

My Qualifications & Philosophies

I earned my Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from Texas Woman’s University and my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Houston. An important part of my work as a clinician is also being an activist in the community. In my experience as an environmental psychology researcher, I recognize that our relationship to the environment and place-based attachments greatly affect our mental health and well-being. In addition to advocating for a more livable future, I feel it is important that we address the sociopolitical substrates of the climate crisis including systemic oppression, isolation, and hyper-individualism.I think about the climate crisis as being a relational crisis, and I frequently enlist my clients in thequest for relational reform in their own circles. A signature part of doing therapy with me is raising awareness of systems of oppression that affect us as individuals and how these systems keep us from authentically connecting with others. Doing therapy with me is all about love! We are going to learn the fuck out of some mutual empathy, and we are going to develop radical self-compassion for ourselves amid the Anthropocene horror. We are never going to avoid the hard shit and we are going unpack and commit to our values!

We are going shed the people-pleasey layers and emerge confidently into into our authentic selves, protected with boundaries that are clear, kind, and direct. Need better social support? Want to get involved in your community? Want to get to know yourself more andwho you are in the world? Get at m

Questions for Jamie

  • In therapy, my theory for counseling is porous and adaptive for each unique individual. I use relational-cultural and existential methods to conceptualize my client’s presenting concerns. As a relational therapist, I believe that relationships are the building blocks of our lives, and it’s exciting to learn a person’s unique construction. As an existentialist, I encourage my clients to explore the meaning of their experiences and how they relate to their own personal and relational identity. My goal is to help my clients maximize their existential power and create growth-fostering relationships in the process.

  • I love spending time with my partner, friends, and my one-year-old chihuahua named Remy. I am very passionate about dance, experimental performance art, horror movies, trying new restaurants, and enjoying traditional mezcal and tequila. I believe in restorative justice, and I do my best to model that as a way to empower my clients to give themselves permission to rest as well.

I want to welcome you to share space with me if you feel I might be your fit. I encourage you to bring your whole authentic self and to take ownership of your own therapeutic journey. I look forward to seeing you soon!
