Elizabeth Hail,
LPC-Associate
(supervised by Edward Salazar, LPC-S)
Hello and welcome! I’m Elizabeth, a counselor who works with children, teens, and adults utilizing child-centered play therapy, video game assisted play therapy, and expressive arts techniques. I love video games and geek culture, and enjoy incorporating that love into my therapy sessions with like minded clients.
As our world becomes increasingly reliant on technology, being a person who feels comfortable in virtual spaces can be a real strength. But it can also be a challenge to strike a balance between engaging in virtual hobbies and maintaining healthy real-world social relationships. This can be especially true for children who are growing up as digital natives. This lack of balance can lead to symptoms of anxiety, depression, and feelings of isolation.
I am passionate about supporting my clients in their journey to gain the confidence and self-esteem needed to form lasting relationships with their peers. I enjoy helping clients who want to continue engaging in the virtual hobbies they love, while also learning to identify and set healthy limits for themselves with their own use of technology.
My Qualifications & Philosophies
I graduated with a Master’s in Counseling and Development at Texas Women’s University, and I am licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor - Associate in the state of Texas. I have experience working with clients of all ages, from toddlers to seniors. I feel that my experience with clients across the lifespan helps me recognize developmental challenges that may be holding clients back. My approach is trauma informed and LGBTQIA+ friendly.
I believe that natural growth and change occurs in environments where clients feel supported and understood, and I value creating a therapeutic relationship based on empathetic understanding and common interests. The therapy process can initially be intimidating, especially for children and teens, and I find that using toys or video games as a communication bridge goes a long way to increasing their comfort level and sense of engagement.
When you're ready, I encourage you to reach out and set up an appointment with me. I'd love to support you or your child in taking those crucial first steps towards better mental well-being.
