Jaclyn Contreras LPC

Hi there and welcome! I’m Jaclyn Contreras, and sometimes we need support from an unbiased professional. Whether it’s your first time in counseling or your coming back to refresh or process something new, we can work together to reach your goals. It is important to me to support anyone who needs a safe non-judgmental space to share and process.

My Qualifications & Philosophies

As a 1st/ 2nd generation latina I bring perspective to those of us who live in the hyphen and can find it difficult to understand what it means to be both Latino & American all at the same time. I have been practicing since 2018 and understand that not only culture, but our family structures influence our way of being & handling different scenarios. My goal is to help you understand these structures and help either maintain them if they serve value in our life or how to deconstruct the narratives that no longer serve their purpose in our life.

I attended the University of North Texas and graduated with a B.S. in Integrative Studies focusing on Psychology, Behavior Analysis, and Development & Family Studies in 2015. I then went on to Southern Methodist University and completed my masters of mental health in 2018. I have worked in a variety of spaces from non-profits to schools and private practices. In December of 2022 I completed my EMDR training and utilize EMDR to help reprocess and desensitize the nervous system to trauma and negative cognitions we as people have gathered as we grow and experience the world around us.

  • I am a true country girl at heart, finding solace and fulfillment in my deep connection with nature. My love and compassion for animals are boundless, as evidenced by my 17 rescue cats and faithful companion, Zelda Mae. My days and nights are filled with the joy of tending to my furry friends. But I’m not just a tender soul; I’m also a thrill-seeker, with a passion for dirtbike riding that runs as deep as my love for the outdoors. Currently, I am on the hunt for a new motorcycle, eager to embrace the adventures that await on the open trails, combining my rural roots with my spirit of adventure.
