Easy as 1, 2, 3 - How to Relax in 3 Easy Steps

Relaxation is great. It has so many positive effects on your mental, emotional, and physical health. But we often think that relaxation requires setting aside a chunk of time to practice relaxation. Things like guided imagery, yoga, and meditation are wonderful, but require a significant amount of time.

If you are busy, which most of us are, then you feel stressed and need a way to feel relaxed right now. Well here I tell you how to relax in 3 easy steps.


 

✅ Step 1: Ground Yourself

  • Sit comfortably in your chair.

  • Plant your feet firmly on the ground.

  • Take a second to bring awareness to your environment.

✅ Step 2: Stretch and Open

  • Lean back

  • Stretch your arms up and out.

  • This motion opens the body up for the last and final step.

✅ Step 3: Breathe Deeply

  • Inhale. Exhale…with attention

  • Breathe in and out from this stretched position.

  • Notice how it relaxes your body.

  • Additional breathwork example: Breathe in for 4, Hold for 4, Exhale for 4, Hold for 4, Repeat. (Box Breathing technique)
