Shelley Plumlee,
Counseling Intern
(supervised by Dr. James Wilkins, LPC-S)
I am a graduate counseling intern who believes everyone deserves a safe, supportive space where they feel heard, understood, and accepted. My counseling approach is primarily person-centered, meaning I meet clients with empathy, genuineness, and respect while helping them recognize their strengths and work toward meaningful change. I also incorporate techniques from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, tailored to each client’s needs and goals.
I am especially interested in working with adolescents and adults experiencing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationship concerns, life transitions, and everyday stress. I strive to create a welcoming environment where clients can speak openly, develop healthy coping skills, and feel empowered to make positive changes in their lives.
Outside of counseling, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, taking long walks with my dog, Maggie, watching movies, gardening, organizing, and soaking in the sun.
